This balloon flight over Norfolk was enjoyed by passengers and family alike. We assembled at Mattishall golf club. We had ten passengers to fly and being a Sunday afternoon a large number of the passengers family and friends had arrived to watch and assist in the launch. We had a gentle breeze coming from the north east at 6 m.p.h. so conditions were ideal for the launch.
At 4.45 p.m. we took to the air, climbing out to 2,500 feet. Behind us the city of Norwich was in clear view. The balloon flew over the village of Thuxton and Gaverstone on over the old railway linking Wymondham to Dereham. We flew onwards to Reymerston and Shipdham. Eventually landing in a stubble field in the parish of Ovington adjacent to the Watton road. The owner of the farm, Mrs Rednall and her daughters kindly gave us permission to retrieve the balloon and joined us in a glass of champagne. The balloon was packed up on the trailer and everyone stood back to enjoy a beautiful autumnal sunset.
