It is always ‘Best practice’ at the start of any balloon flight season to have a day were we can review our operational procedures. The day started with Phil from Paramount Fire from Kings Lynn to conduct an in depth fire course for pilots and ground crew. This course is approved to CAP611 standards and fully approved by the Civil Aviation Authority. The course included handling Water, foam, CO2 and dry power; with an emphasis on handling a propane fire. (Not that we’ve ever had one I hasten to add! However it’s the old story if you’re well prepared, trained and equipped it’ll probably never happen.
The day proceeded with a review of current risk assessments as we have introduced new ground handling equipment for this season which should make the work of the ground crew a lot easier for 2009. So it was an hour or two of ‘hands on’ everyone seemed to be happy with all. We also welcome two new ground crew for this year and today was a great opportunity to introduce them to the team. And give them expert tuition in preparing the balloons for flight and handling passengers on site. Oh and a big thank you to Claire who provided an excellent on site catering service which included fresh baguettes bacon and sausages with lashings of tomato sauce followed by sticky doughnuts.
So the bottom line is WE ARE GOOD TO GO. If you have a pre paid voucher or you are thinking of booking with us get on that phone 01362 687006 and lets get you in the Flight diary. Hope to see you enjoying a balloon flight-ride over East Anglia soon.
