This is a competition held each year for experienced pilots both commercial and private to see how far they can fly in one continuous balloon flight across the United Kingdom. Wells next the sea & the north Norfolk coast Sunday 12th October 2008
From a pilots prospective some flights really do stick in your mind. Todays balloon ride over Norfolk proved to be quite interesting. After a misty morning the skies had cleared to leave one of those balmy autumnal afternoons, and still quite warm for the time of year. We had a local family party to fly so we rendezvoused at our base at Wendling. The balloon lifted at 3.50 p.m. and we climbed out … [Read more...]
Peterborough and beyond Saturday 26th 2008
This balloon-Ride flight over Peterborough provided panoramic views of the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire landscape. After a poor summer of weather September has proved to be quite exceptional for ballooning. We launched from the Ken Stimpson field behind Werrington Sports Centre at 4.40 p.m. The city was clearly laid out beneath us. Ferry meadows and Milton Park well defined, to the south … [Read more...]
Norfolk Balloon Flight Friday 26th September 2008
This afternoon was ideal for our balloon trip over Norfolk. The wind was a gentle 5 m.p.h flow coming from the south east, unbroken skies and above all good visibility. We took the air at 4.45 p.m. from Mattishall golf club, and ascended to 2,000 feet. The hot air balloon drifted towards Dereham passing over Clint Green and Yaxham. Once clear of Dereham we descended to 500 feet which is a perfect … [Read more...]
Balloon Flight over Norwich Thursday 25th September 2008
We launched our Norfolk Balloon Flight balloon from Wensum valley golf club in Taverham. The weather was good with excellent visibility. Norwich airport reported that the wind was gusting up to 15 m.p.h so we knew the inflation was going to be a little ‘tricky'. Our first attempt to inflate the balloon proved too much of a handful, so we waited for the wind to calm. At 5.45 p.m. we were airborne … [Read more...]

We had a gentle breeze coming from the north east at 6 m.p.h. so conditions were ideal for the launch. At 4.45 p.m. we took … [Read more...]
Sunrise Norfolk Balloon Flight Sunday 21st September 2008
This hot air balloon ride flew over Norfolk. We met our passengers at 7.00 a.m. at Mattishall Golf Club. It was a beautiful morning, a shallow layer of mist had covered the ground of which the heat of the sun would quickly burn away. A call to air traffic control at Norwich airport confirmed that conditions were suitable and gave us the go ahead for take off. We lifted off gently and climbed out … [Read more...]

The current and long serving chairman is Andrew Inkley. Andrew approached us earlier in the year with the view to flying a small group of his club members of which we were able to accommodate. Two of the club members … [Read more...]
